You need to accept yourself the way you accept Emma June - learn to love your own house of joy and jellybeans. The facts that you can come up with a concept like that and joyously ride in circles with Wilder reveals your own personal beautiful sunset.
I look a lot like my Dad and my eldest son looks a lot like me. People say my younger sister and I look like twins, but neither of us see it...
Those three pictures were all of Emma June, but she was looking at you like you are her sunshine. 🌞
I look just like my mom and my dad, a lenticular image, depending on who you compare me to. My relationship with them was always tough, and when I read parents writing with so much love for their kids, like you do, it heals something deep within me. Thank you for that, and for sharing your excellent writing with all of us.🫶
OMG, such a big grin on my face looking at all these pictures and reading your hilarious words. 😍
My older two boys are three years apart, both redheads, and when they were little (and sitting down), people often thought they were twins. They were freaking adorable and we always got lots of attention out in public. Now the younger one is 6'6", and probably gets a lot of attention when he is out in public. Unfortunately, he is not in touch with me, so I do not know. 😢
Somebody recently told me "You can't read the label from the inside of the jar." This in response to some observations I was making about my appearance. I thought it was slightly cryptic and wanted to ask, "Well, what does the label say?!?" but in the end, I just received his words of wisdom and went on, lol.
this post gave me a good, hearty chuckle. i think family resemblance is such a cool and beautiful thing. everyone has always told me i look just like my mom, but when anyone says i look like my dad (which has only happened a handful of times), it makes me so happy. i like my parents a lot so it's nice to know that other people see both of them in me.
I was talking to a dad at football the other day and he was telling me everyone said his daughter looked like him when she was a baby. His wording really tickled me: "I'm a bald bloke in my 40's and they're telling me my precious baby girl looks exactly like me? I don't know who should be more insulted!" He was outraged.
She does look like you though. She also has a fabulous head of hair.
This is a beautiful post that pays tribute to Emma June's baby perfection. I love the questions you're posing to yourself as you strive to see yourself in her. A great post Alex!
it’s a trick the third foto is LAUREN our patron saint of awesomeness
Both are cute! 😊

"That's my 6-month old, crawling around in the green top."
"That's my 5-month old, playing with the dinosaur rattle."
"That's my 6-and-a-half-month old, on her day off from the accountancy job and writing a novel in her spare time. Yeah, she's just like her mother."
Lovely baby! (not you)
1. Thankfully my son looks nothing like me.
2. I once married twins. (It was legal in some states. Compulsory in others)
it's the eyebrows not the essense
we'll take it
