My favorite grocery store experience in Southern California is Grocery Outlet. It’s like Big Lots for your grocery experience. I will literally talk to anyone about Grocery Outlet (G.O. for short). When my parents visit from across the country I have to take my dad because he is also sick in the head in the same way as me, loving to shop for the fun deals, or should we say that I got the sickness from him.
Sometimes I like to go to Costco on a Saturday morning, not because I need to (certainly we could wait to buy our giant bags of dog food and frozen mini pizzas until a saner weekday), but because I just like to marvel at the mass of people pushing around their massive carts in search of the grocery and warehouse deals.
I love Grocery Outlet!! I deleted a lot of stuff from this piece about SoCal supermarkets that I might turn into its own piece. Like Jons. Do you know Jons? It’s not a Vons ripoff. Its like a family spot, and they bought an old Vons and didn’t wanna pay for all new lettering so they just used the same logo lolol
Also. I have a mega essay about Costco that I want to write. I love that place. It is everything that America is. The good the bad all of it. It is America.
I kind of hate Costco, but also have a membership and love that I can save big on olive oil, Parmesan cheese and mozzarella and also those dark chocolate JoJos which I hide from every member of my family. Also, I saw someone sporting a Kirkland hoodie the other day. Can that be worn unironicly? I am really curious about this. Also, has anyone seen Sheng Wang’s bit where he jokes about buying Kirkland pants? I thought it was pretty good.

Again, sick in the head.
