Great post! You just described my brain, but instead of a baby, I have a dog. I hope you finish the phones/malls piece. I've always hated malls. And I'm beginning to hate my phone...
whoa Alex I love this... breathing is now part of your writing process!! I thought you were going to say something else, however. As in, when you came back to your initial idea to finish writing it, the topic did NOT feel so meaty or good or bread-slicey or whatever. that's what happens to me, idk it's the DOUBT creeping in.
Wow! That saying about sliced bread was so ingrained (see what I did there) in my head that I forgot we had invented several other reasonably impressive items since then - thanks for the reminder - good job at finishing this post, I was quite impr......
Is sliced bread really a huge deal. How hard was it to slice it yourself. Maybe they didn’t slice it at all and they just put the cheese between two whole loafs. That would be a crazy sandwich. Idk, just spitballing
"Because the only thing scarier than finishing something and saying ‘hey look at this,” is finishing something and then saying, ‘hey look at this, I really think it might be a good one.’"
There are so many gems in this article I liked, but this one wraps it all up beautifully. This hits home to where I am right now with my own writing —and from what it sounds, where I may always be. Glad to know I'm not alone in that feeling.
Will somebody please tell me how to restack those flyers? They are true marketing masterpieces.
I enjoyed this, being constantly distracted from something one sets out to do is something I can relate to though my "baby" is now in her 30's and 4,448 kilometres away so I can't put any of it on her. I got distracted reading your piece and started thinking about malls because there were no malls in the Alberta small town I grew up in. So we'd drive to Red Deer a few times a year and go to Parkland Mall. I got distracted some more and thought about the banana cream pie I used to get to eat at the Woolworth's Red Grille restaurant which is pretty memorable because we didn't eat out much. Then I read the history of Woolworth's on Wikipedia, then I finished reading your piece and wrote this. Thanks for sending me on a trip to the mall.
i might be the single person keeping the site afloat. honestly I don't use it all that much but when I do find myself typing d + enter, I know all willpower has gone and I am fully in the control of the machine aka the digg

where do you go when cruising the web in these ways ?
So…you don’t edit. My takeaway is write and hit post. And repeat. It’ll stick with some. Won’t matter to others. And what you think is irrelevant. Got it.
dammit al I didn’t breathe is this why I had a panic attack last night
YOU FOTTA BREAF

THAT TOO. this is why I need to publish FAST before I can second guess myself

hhhahaahah
This had some good stuff scattered throughout, but honestly I’d much rather read the “phones are the new malls” piece!
Please write it, edit it, and publish it within 60 days or I will cut off a pinkie finger.
deal
Both are True. You can make seriously mind-blowing sliced bread and play the Duckie and the Saxophone, all at the same time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acBixR_JRuM&ab_channel=SesameStreet

hahaha
if you print out the flyers and put them up all over your town's community spaces, we all have won
Reading this was a great way to avoid finishing any of my ongoing projects, especially the good ones! 😏 (P.S. that graph is perfect)
thank you I do graphs professionally so if you ever need one lmk

damn that's beautiful. malls were truly a place that we no longer have and it sounds like in your case you never had
My brain typically says “Kapow” but I’m curious if “Kaplow” might be a vaguely different flavor of brain motivation?
Kaplow is like kapow but with a plow
tl;dr but the flyers were worth the effort. Keep up the good work! -God
thank you god
Loved it. And then breathe again.
