I confess I once made love in the dunes at midnight on Cape Cod in 1971. It was the greatest sex I ever had, but when we arose we realized we had been lying in an area where someone had emptied a litter box of cat scat. I have never had a sip of a pina colada, but we sure drank a lot of brandy that night.

Love this! I read it out loud to my husband over breakfast. Very funny. I especially laughed at the bit about the newspaper. 💟

I was listening to that song when people were putting personals in the paper newspapers. Here in Dallas, the Dallas Observer, a weekly free news rag that was largely funded by personals, was mostly read for the personals. We would read and laugh and laugh, and wonder if we knew any of these people.

Yeah, the song is a bubble gum "The Shining" meets "You've Got Mail." Well, sort of. Bizarre.

So it's kind of 'if you can't cheat on the one you love, hunny, cheat on the one your with', right? Another oldie but goodie.)

I have a secret theory that "Into the Unknown" from Frozen is also about cheating. Not sure if your toddler has expanded beyond Trash Truck yet though that this song has come across your radar.

Becoming a paid subscriber to then find this post linked in your 'welcome/thank you' email was just fantastic--I totally loved reading this! I really loved this song (still do for some reason, likely naive nostalgia) years ago when I discovered it as a teen back in the late 90's, but yes indeed, it is kind of complicated/disturbing etc., to say the least! Anyway, you have an awesome sense of humor and I look forward to reading much more of your writing. :)
