I forgot to add to my comment : Step one. Notice how much you hold your breath through the day or are barely doing 1/2 second breaths. yeah. Starving yourself of the main ingredient to live. Everybody's doing it but it doesn't mean it's okay. Step two. Take super slow expansive breaths, not holding at the top. but exhaling and watching a big sigh come out and see your body melt... do this as many times as you can remember. 3-5 at at time- on the toilet, in between scrolls, while you are picking your butt. whatever. Reach out for step three when anxieties start to become more evident and you start feeling things you thought you were over and tucked away. Then we start to ask some delightful questions about what's true and what's not. congrats on google!
Ah yes, the "I invented Google in 1996 using Google Drive which was launched in 2012" thing again, Alex. You're right, how can anyone factually argue with that mighty and intractable edifice of logic, and so on. How dare I wearily reach for my whisky bottle and emit a sigh like a thousand martyrs, etc.
Mine your kids for content as shamelessly as they have and will forever mine your wallet. I don’t even have kids and I know that. I think I googled it once, so thanks for that.
That's the thing, isn't it? We come up with ideas and think "someone's already written about that, tonnes of someones" but it's about perspective. Every new story is another perspective of the same story. There's nothing new. Write what you love.
My coffee(s): A mug in the morning, usually with milk, and no sugar, and sometimes a cup in the afternoon, whenever i need it. Sometimes these "easy" ideas are more efficient (This summer i solved the issue of how much to open my window with a shoelace and two pieces of paper tape).
At a meditation and yoga retreat this weekend and it is amazing but I decided to look at my phone to read this post… and I think I gleaned something quite important from it - “Catch me whenever you can.”
Which feels like best friends with something I’ve heard from Oliver Burkeman (and which I say to myself often): “What if it/this were easy?” You’d be surprised how much asking yourself that helps you get started on something you’ve been procrastinating, stay doing something that you’re kind starting to feel resistance to, and/or change your shitty attitude about something when you’re being grumpy for no real reason.
I now have a writer's crush on you & Debbie! Please keep writing about your kids and your insecurities! (I'm 73% sure it won't give your kids insecurities.) Frankly, you crack me up! And I need that. 🫶

“Thank you to that one person who asked me not to name them because they are the musical artist Madonna.”
