After 10 years of writing, here's everything I know
a raw, honest list of the stuff no one else will tell you
Here is everything I know about the craft and business of writing:
Buying a new moleskin notebook WILL NOT MAKE YOU WRITE MORE. I know what’s gonna happen you’re gonna be at some hip bookstore avoiding writing and see that hardcover steel black emblem wrapped tight in cellophane and your brain will say “ah yes, this here notebook is the only thing standing between me and my great american novel!” It isn’t. It hasn’t been, and it won’t be. Do not buy the notebook. You have so many at home that have like five half written in pages of stuff like “car wash but for humans” and nothing else. Also it is way too fucking expensive those things cost like $25 while a rando notebook at CVS costs like $3 or even those nicer decomposition books are only $11. Just please don’t do this not again please why are you grabbing it why are you taking it to the register why are you paying for it NO GOD DAMN IT WAIT Ok yea seeing it up close it is very cool I feel like it could be perfect to outline this new novel I’m working on actually about trees that talk. Or also a children’s book on snakes that are nice called Nice Snakes yea I’m gonna need a couple new moleskins actually
Moleskines are great and everything, but have you tried Leuchtturm, their fancier German counterpart?? Leuchtturms will also not make you write more, which I had to find out the hard way
False, it WILL make me write more but as it turns out, my handwriting is so piss-poor that I can’t read it later anyway
