As a worrier and a sufferer, this was helpful.

"Why do you insist on suffering?" asked my qualifier (as they say in some 12 step groups).

Hmm.

"I'm too worried about what you think of my life?"

(But that makes it sound like he's just a person giving advice and not an echo of a voice calcified into my inner critic.)

"It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open" I wish that was me. That was Martha Graham talking.

....Oh, and on the tinkering with note-taking side, I had some luck with 'anecdote'. (not an employee-they just have room on their calendars for random, notes, priorities, etc.)

HELLO PATIENT CONDOR I CANT BELIEVE IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO RESPOND.

I agree with Martha but baby if that ain't hard to do I don't know what is...A great middle ground I have found is to make art for one person. if you can make them think or laugh or anything, you did ur job. the transfer is complete. but to not think about it all? Get real Martha.

Or maybe it is possible as the good Dr Adler says. Stick to your tasks and let the salt & vinegar cape cod chips fall where they may.

anecdote you say. that's a physical in real life sort of book. I have never been able to keep one of those without forgetting or losing it because I am a Mess.

10 hours of prep for 1 hour of good life. I keep thinking about that.

also, re: chickens, have you seen/heard bo burnham's song "the chicken"? it's one of the most beautiful songs i've ever seen/heard. have you watched all of "inside" and the "inside outtakes"? do you love bo burnham like i do and if not why not (no need to answer).

love you! love this!

i have not heard the chicken by bo but now I will go and look it up. i have seen inside i have not seen outtakes of inside that special was like staring at the sun becuase it is so good it hurts and so i have a hard time with it. I am also like this with hit tv show barry

also then i watched FD Signifier's vid about how stuff like Inside lives inside a white liberal performative art: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkuQ78xb-Fg

and guess what - both are true!

lots to think about and even more to discuss
