Thanks for the insight into the mind of manic posters on social media. Where typically I would get annoyed to read every thought a serial poster has, especially as it dominates a young feed with little followers, I can now better empathize with their need for validation and scroll past the mundane thoughts.
I'll say this about Notes: it's liberating to have the freedom to do goofy stuff here. I don't post on "normie" social media, so I don't get a chance to play anymore, and I really miss that aspect of social media... the ability to be uninhibited, to goof off and play.
That feeling went away around 2016 and has been nowhere to be seen since then, but I have a sense of that "safe goofing" feeling.
FOMOOOCAMSHWCL!!! So much good stuff here. That we're all eating gummies, and I love everyone, and everyone loves everyone will stay with me. Can't think of a better ethos.
as a writer/musician who is Not Built For Instagram And Trying To Make Instagram Work (Yes I Capitalized The Articles Too), there's aspects of Substack and Notes that feel *exactly* like psychedelic-love AWP-Twitter. everyone has a much larger attention span and care to offer, so far. just people out here interacting thoughtfully and with a bit of wry humor and self-conscious responsibility. I'm hoping Notes will be as described here, a place for ppl to connect and learn new things.
I'm going to continue to ask about Indigenous, anti-racist, and decolonizing Substack, and where that is, if you can point the way, friends.

I’d like to hear more about how the freeze or fart dichotomy evolved in nature please
Been thinking dot about this and will explain it all, a la Clarissa, in an upcoming post

Let us not follow the insanity that is ElonMuskism by renaming Substack. @HammishMcKenzie
Lol
Lightly taps their attention
This is a gentle way to describe what we’re trying to do on the internet, and I’m here for it.
100%,
Hasn't Notes already peaked?
So. What exactly is PB&B?
Idk not seeing much of that in my feed. To each their own!
