To assume I know what is going to be good or not before writing is a massive overstep of the ego and one of which I simply cannot abide.
Because I know my ego conscious self and man does that guy make a lot of mistakes. This is the guy who writes letters and forgets to send them, forgets to bring pants to a camping trip in the mountains of Washington state, who eats the same ‘meal’ 90% of the day (cottage cheese, berries, pro-powder, and g-nuts). This is not someone with whom to trust one’s creative process.
The whole point of the writing is to surprise yourself, and how the heck are you gonna do that when you’ve planned the whole thing out beforehand. Sure, you could pretend to be surprised, feign a “oh my god I can’t believe I’m realizing this’ schtick but come on who is gonna believe that? That sorta bullshit doesn’t even work on my three year old who knows I’m faking it when I pretend to find him in hide and seek even though he’s right there on the couch not even hidden a little bit. Ok maybe he doesn’t but he’s a child! Give him a break Jesus this isn’t about him it’s about you. You and your need to control everything.
Let go and let god. I just googled that phrase to see who said it originally lol, like maybe it was Jesus in the New Testament:
> Guys, they’re gonna crucify me but before I go, let go and let god k?
I did find this:
Music!
Interesting how similar the instructions are for Christianity, Buddhism, and therapy re: letting go. More on this soon.
I’m now like freaking out about where to publish this. Do I blast it to the BAT-list or is that ‘not kind’ since it’s ‘half baked.’
I also considered keeping it as an intro for a Sharon is Karen newsletter (my recommendations newsletter that also does not yet exist) but I think that’s bad practice, to keep things and not publish them. I think that causes psychospiritual constipation and I want less of that in my life.
So I’ll publish this in the BATLAB! Why not! Let go, let gourd.
I'll take your half baked ideas any day. Thanks for sharing.
You nailed a teaser to keep us on the edge of our seats for what’s to come.
Fun Fact: In the mid 80s I had the privilege of seeing Candi Staton sing “Let Go Let God” during a church service in Louisiana ;)
